Blessings

This is the time of year we think about our blessings – which I don’t think any of us does nearly enough.  I always remember the line from It’s a Wonderful Life – “no man is truly poor who has friends”.  We have lots of blessings in our lives — and sometimes the small ones may be the only blessing we have in a really bad day.  So, on days when you can’t think of any blessings — feel free to borrow a couple of mine —

1.  It’s a blessing that the paperboy threw the newspaper into the driveway instead of the puddle of water in the middle of the lawn.

2.  It’s a blessing that I found my car keys after searching in only two places instead of my usual six.

3.  It’s a blessing that I made it to work without having to scream an obscenity at anyone.

4.  It’s a blessing that I walked out of the bathroom without toilet paper stuck to my shoes.

5.  It’s a blessing that I made it home after work without having to scream an obscenity at anyone.

6.  It’s a blessing that I found the remote control for the TV after searching in only two places instead of my usual six.

Sometimes it’s the little blessings we need to count instead of waiting for the big ones – and maybe we will get better at recognizing all of the blessings in our lives.
