Mother, Daughter and Beginnings

Standard

This was a special weekend for mothers and daughters  – no, you didn’t miss Mother’s Day – it was a lot more special than that.

Daughter – and so it begins

On Friday – Lizzie, Jenny’s daughter and my granddaughter had kindergarten round-up.  For those of you not familiar with this rite of passage, this is Lizzie’s first exposure to where she will go to her first year of formal schooling.  She met new friends and teachers.  She learned where her classroom is located and exactly how to get to the other really important places in the school – the bathrooms, the lunch room and the most important place of all – the playground!  Lizzie’s mom was proud of the way Lizzie made friends and how she was thrilled with the day. It was a day full of new beginnings for Jenny’s daughter – new dreams, new adventures and definitely new stories to share.  It was a day where Lizzie can start dreaming of her future and doing just what her mother did the very next day.

Daughter, Mother – more adventures to come

On Saturday, Jenny, my daughter and Lizzie’s mother, graduated from Peru State College with her Bachelor degree in Business Management.  She did this while working multiple jobs and having two small children.  She was lucky enough to find a program where she could do her work on-line so she could take care of her family and her dreams.  Jenny’s daughter and mother were so excited for this big day – excited to see Jenny’s happiness, her relief at finishing and the fulfillment of her dreams.  Jenny’s daughter and mother were proud of Jenny’s achievements and watching her walk down across that stage to receive her diploma.  It was a day full of new beginnings for Lizzie’s mom and my daughter – new dreams, new adventures, new achievements and even new stories.  It was a day where Jenny could start dreaming of her future and that of her family.

This was a special weekend for mothers and daughters – a weekend of new beginnings, of new dreams and of the future.
